LUTHERAN SERVICE BOOK
To date 184 copies have been purchased through the Memorial
Fund and an additional generous offering by our Ladies Aid has
been used to obtain additional copies or companion features of LSB.
In August of 2007 these gifts purchased the lectionaries for series A and B which
will cover readings from December 2007- November 2009. Actually now all the lectionaries
needed for the three year cycle of pericopes are in our hands at church.
All extra copies bought for resale at the church for memorial gifts and personal
use have been sold. Future purchases of LSB should be handled through the church
office where Linda will order from Concordia Publishing House.

LUTHERAN SERVICE BOOK'S FEATURES
Some advantages over the LW hymnal are:
More compact and lighter weight but about a hundred more hymns.
Hymns from other Christian traditions and cultures join with the
traditional Lutheran texts and tunes.
The hymnal contains reading schedules, catechism, and devotional
materials.
Spanish and German texts accompany several hymns.
Traditional wording replaces modernized texts that never caught
on.
New hymns are more joyful and singable.
Liturgies include the ones we know and dont have to learn
from scratch.
Hymn numbers and liturgy page numbers will no longer be confused.
