PANTRY AND THRIFT STORE HUM ALONG

Our pantry has been visited by well over 100 families per month in 2011. Volunteers are welcome to help shop, stock, sort, and distribute. Call Scott 276-3920 and get involved.

The Christian Thrift Store has well outdistanced the sales and profits of each previous year in the store’s four and a half year history. The store is able to share its profits with individuals, families, and non-profit organizations in need of financial help. Applications for assistance are available by calling 473-6509 during business hours.

To volunteer, bring clothing, furniture, or small appliances to donate, call the same number and bring your items to the store, Hwy 32 at Cavour St. by the Post Office in Wabeno, Mondays thru Saturdays 11-4.

CHRISTIAN THRIFT STORE:
At the corner of Hwy. 32 and Cavour Ave., Wabeno
Hours are Monday through Saturday, 11am – 4 pm.
Donations may be dropped off during business hours.
Volunteers are welcome. Please call Sue Kaufman at the store 473-6509.

The board consists of members of eleven local churches contributing time and volunteers to make the business work. CTS brings dollars into our community to help non-profit organizations and individuals with emergency financial need. The store also provides low cost clothing and household goods. In these economically challenging times, the CTS is a very popular place to shop. The member churches currently making up the Thrift Store board are:

Forest Larger Parish – Lakewood Presbyterian
Forest Larger Parish - Wabeno Presbyterian
Forest Larger Parish – Laona Presbyterian
St. John Lutheran, Townsend
St. Ambrose Roman Catholic, Wabeno
St. Leonard Roman Catholic, Laona
St. Mary of the Lakes Roman Catholic, Lakewood
Wabeno Baptist
Alliance, Maple Valley
Upper Room, Lakewood
Church of the Nazarene, Laona

THRIFT STORE IN SIXTH YEAR OF SERVICE

In the over five years since opening in Nov.,2006 we operated out of three different locations. The present one, the former Artists Way, is the largest facility and is owned by the CTS. Our manager is Sue Kaufman who has done a great job organizing volunteers and supervising the running of the business. A distribution committee was formed in 2009 to share profits with those in need. The profits are disbursed to families or individuals with specific emergency needs and also non-profit organizations who help our community (Pantry, after school activities, shelters, etc.).

The Thrift Store has become a popular place to shop because of its quality goods at low prices. It can always use more volunteers. Call Sue at 473-6509 during business hours Tue-Sat., 11-4.

St. John is one of eleven churches that partner in operating The Christian Thrift Store. About 15 of our members are regular volunteers.

CHRISTIAN FOOD PANTRY is open every second and fourth Wednesday of the month, 9-10 and 6-7. Clients may visit once per month. Each family receives a box of non-perishable items by family size, $5 voucher per person in a family (minimum $10, maximum $30) for perishable food, sausage items available from Johnsonville, "free pick" of sundry items on display, books for children, potatoes and onions when available, and turkey or ham at holiday time.
