FOOD PANTRY THANKS COMMUNITY FOR GENEROUS RESPONSE

Our Pantry at St. John faced a major crunch this holiday season, but the gifts of several civic organizations and individuals promise a very bright and blessed holiday. Once again SuperValu will be helping with the “Heart Tree” at their store in collecting gifts for our clients’ children. Some large cash donations from civic groups have made it possible for us to provide gifts vouchers and meat items for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The Pantry is open Wed.,Nov. 12 and 26 from 9-10 and 6-7. Gifts will be distributed Dec. 10, 9-10 and 6-7. The second open time in December will be Dec. 17, 9-10 only.

CHRISTIAN THRIFT STORE OPENS AT “ARTIST’S WAY”

Three years---three locations, but the Christian Thrift Store has finally found a home of its own after purchasing the Artist’s Way building in Wabeno. The Thrift Store opens for business there Nov. 1. The floor space is three times the previous facility and there is a back room for prep being readied by several carpenter-type volunteers.

The store increased its business over the first year with record sales in 2008. The store provides low cost second go-around clothing in excellent condition, household items, books, and decorations. Profits are used to help people with special financial needs and other non-profit ministries. Nine area churches comprise the board of directors. Over a dozen of our St. John members are volunteers. You can help too by calling Sue Kaufman at 473-6509 during store hours Tue.-Sat., 11-4. This is also the time donations can be brought to the store.

THE CHRISTIAN FOOD PANTRY is open each month on the second and fourth Wednesdays, 9-10 and 6-7. Volunteers meet once a quarter to set policies, plan a work schedule, and discuss issues to benefit our pantry project. The next meeting is Monday, January 12, 6:30 pm at the church. New participants are always welcome.

THE CHRISTIAN THRIFT STORE is located on the corner by the post office in Wabeno (Hwy. 32). Volunteers are always welcome. Please call Sue Kaufman at 473-6509 during business hours, Tues.-Sat., 11-4. Donations to the store can be made during the business hours. Temporarily, these need to be dropped off at the former location three door up from the bank. Please go to the rear of the building.
