  • Verses 10-14 “River”—This is one of the few glimpses we have into the world as it existed before sin. This was an unusual river, beginning at some sort of artesian well, watering the garden, and then branching out to wind through the surrounding areas. Undoubtedly the waters of the flood altered the course of these rivers.

    1. What was man to do in the garden? What does that tell us about our own purpose in life?

    2. Describe the special trees and the special command that God gave Adam and Eve. Was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil a bad tree? Explain.

    3. How did God reveal to Adam that he still lacked something?

    4. How did God supply what Adam lacked?

    5. An Apache Christian once said (with reference to Adam’s rib), “When a man finds a wife, he becomes a complete man again.” What do you think he meant?

    6. Here in verse 25 it says Adam and Eve were naked and felt no shame. How is shame and embarrassment connected with sin? Is shame bad?
